Dr. Anthony Fauci is the Director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases. Dr. Fauci was a recent speaker at a virtual event held by the Association of Performing Arts Professionals.

According to the New York Times, Dr. Fauci advised that in order for concert venues and theaters to reopen, the United States must reach a level of herd immunity. In order to achieve this level of herd immunity, 70-85% of the population must be vaccinated.

“If everything goes right, this is will occur some time in the fall of 2021,” Fauci stated, “so that by the time we get to the early to mid-fall, you can have people feeling safe performing onstage as well as people in the audience.”

Fauci continued by saying that if vaccine distribution was successful theaters that have good ventilation and proper air filters, may not have to place as many restrictions. With the exception of masks. That is something that Fauci believes could be the normal for the foreseeable future.
